SO who intiated this action?

NWA just as the FAA confirms investigations into maintenance problem cover-ups?

Or AMFA, just as the strike begins to have an effect on future ticket sales and momentum gains with other unions?

Hmmmm, I wonder.

TWU, I think NW did....

"...Our last best offer which was presented to you on August 18 was based on economic circumstances that no longer exist today," said a letter from Julie Hagen Showers, Northwest's vice president for labor relations, sent to the union Tuesday night and released by the airline on Wednesday.

"While the Company was prepared to stand behind that offer in order to obtain a consensual agreement, unfortunately we are no longer able to do so," she wrote...

Or Bend over and grab your ankles ladies, its Showers time....

Know where they are going to recoup some of the strike costs plus find the cash to give management a nice bonus for sucessfully managing the strike? You guessed it.

If the flight attendants or pilots had any cajones they would refuse to cross asap. Times a ticking, soon you'll all be back on the job, having given large concessions, and still bitching about having to work for NW.

Then this will be a very short-lived discussion. Another slap in the face right about now would just boost the morale even more for the strikers and make them even more determined. Regardless...BK about 30 days away.

I especially like the threat to replace the strikers.

Oh yea, NWA hires the beer bottle before work gang to handle everything.

And what will the "Union" pilots and f/a's do when faced with working beside long term scabs?

Once they go BK what happens to the vendors?

Will NWA screw them too?

Will the vendors ask for cash up front?

Should be interesting.

Yeah,

They talk tough but all is not so rosy as they'd have you believe.

If talks break off after meeting tomorrow their stock will plummet (further).

Why talk if they didn't have to-they need you or at least hope that some of you will walk across the line if talks break down tomorrow.

Their charade is getting tougher and tougher to hide.

The FAA's increasing scrutiny.

Their people need a rest.

They need you out of the way before they can squeeze the others. Pressure is mounting to close the deal.

Their delays are above the norm and can't be good for ticket sales.

Heavy cks are closing in

Talk Yes. Beg Never! They want something from you-make them pay for it.

get a grip...they're going to BK and don't you believe anything else...mere formality here of making a gesture to AMFA......makes good copy...take it to the bank...the street and all their financiers are looking intently.
a contract will be offered in unacceptable terms..you walked ,you should have known this was coming......it never will get any better from the last offer from here on out.they're forcing the scabs retention at your rejection.
bk was made for these type of scenario's.....look for the other labor groups to snuggle up at your expense.......sorry,been there dudes....
good luck....cohen and company have done they're homework. ;)
october is BK premo time.....

After the SCAB HUNT today, we received a copy of this trash.
Some PFAA'Get It!'
Some IAM'Get It!'

The rest are far too intelligent! (READ ALPO)

Well go celebrate with a Bud and a Scab.

You really expect ANY work group to willingly accept 53% layoffs and a 26% paycut for those left?

At least these men have principles, and a history of management lies, and brow beating to assist in making decisions.

I suspect most of them will match the pay at 26% cut elsewhere, and likely have better benefits to boot.

Working for an airline is rapidly becoming just another job. Railroads are hiring like mad, I know several who have already quit and went to work for BNSF and within two years they will be making more than in the airline industry and the pension and health benefits are both far superior.

I don't think delldude is saying that it was a fair offer. If they gointo BK though, this last attempt will allow them to just permanently force their idea of wages on any mechanic that works for the company. The BK judge will assume that this a valid attempt at negotiation and they will go into the 1113 process on a fast-tracked basis. If AMFa go back they will be at minimum wage.

Minimum wage? Good luck to the passengers and crew, will they issue parachutes instead of boxed lunches now?

Lets not forget that in the late 90s there was a shortage of A&Ps. If you think it was bad then, what do you think is going to happen over the next few years? It takes several years of specific training and even more years of experience to get proficient, once gone from the industry they are not easily replaced. Despite the downturn in the industry and the massive layoffs NWA could only get around 1500 scabs, they wanted more, and thats just one airline. If another were to go on strike there would not be anyone around to replace them. As the industry expands and more people leave either through retirements or resignation there wont be anyone to replace them. The schools just arent pumping them out any more and those in the military are better off staying there.

NWA is going to offer even less than they did before.

AMFA has really screwed the pooch on this one.

AMFA has screwed the pooch? What is your idea of not screwing the pooch kissing off 50% of a workforce that has already been cut 50%?
