Was NW's plan for hiring contract workers just a way to cover their ass? If a plane goes down who do you think NW will blame? Some how i dont think they will accept the responsibilty but instead shift the blame to the contract outfit for supplying them with inexperienced techs. Just as ValuJet tried to blame the crash in the everglades on their contract outfit.

They can try. But with a track record like this, there is too much paperwork, and media attention now, that they can not just throw their arms in the air and say. WHO KNEW ?.. They have been put on notice !.

Also, there is a thing called "Master/Servant" law. That makes the employer responsible for the actions of their employees ("SERVANTS")

DEAD BIRD I think that is a very good posibility and I wouldn't put it past them even if they are fully responsible anyway.

Do you think that the Valujet crash was a result of poor maintenance?

Valujet was due to the contract company putting the wrong label on the oxygen canisters, which then caught fire and caused the plane to crash

Once again your inexperiance shows through.Anyone who has consistantly worked in the industry within the last 10 years knows about Valuejet and the cause of the crash. Espically with all that Hazmat training we, real airplane mechanics, have been subjected to.It was a classic case of what not to do when shipping O2 generators.

Thank you Diss but I am fully aware of ValuJets issues. It just looked as ifn chas was was trying to point the finger at the mechs on that one as well.
