I wanted to hear how people feel about this new on-demand air taxi concept. It just seems like the greatest concept that I can complete my entire 3 day business trip in just one day. How are the airlines going to be able to compete with these new air taxi operators? From what I can gather, the prices seem pretty reasonable. And its so much faster than driving. Besides DayJet in Florida, what other air taxi companies are out there?

For one, the success of the concept will not be at all favorable for air traffic... although, they seem to be more suited to arrive and depart from smaller airports, which is an added benefit. More importantly, lots of people who travel frequently do not care for RJ & commuter service at all, and will choose a mainline flight much quicker - and those RJ's are giant compared to the little guys the taxis will use!

I found one called Imagine Air that I was thinking about using to go to Mississippi tomorrow...the price was actually a lot lower than I was anticipating. I was worried about the safety of flying in a small plane like this though. Has anyone heard of this company or flown on them before? The concept seems like something I want to do, but I want to make sure they are reputable and safe first.

Im not quite sure about the concept with DayJet, but they have a port right where I take my flight training at BCT, those eclipse 500s sure are cool looking.
