Morning Gents,

I'm kind of in a pickle here, I'm applying for a job as a Flight Engineer on B747-200's, and I'm working on finishing out some of the requirements for the job.

1. A&P license (got it, 7 yrs exp, 6 of that Airline exp)

2. Flight Engineer license (don't got it)

I have a written lined up, and I'm looking to finish out the rest of the requirements. I'm not going to cut and paste the FAR's however, I need...

1. At least 5 hrs exp in the duties of flight engineer.

2. An oral exam to be administiered by an FAA approved Examiner.

3. 12 hrs check flight.

I have tried contacting the employer about the dilemma, and so far have not proven to be of any assistance. The FAA is absolutley no help (big suprise there), and I have not been able to find a place that offers testing. Does anyone have any idea where I might finish out the rest of the testing? It almost appears that if I were to finish out this license, I would have to go and rent my own old jet, and a couple of pilots, of course though if I had that kind of money I really would not look at getting this license.

You don't have to do it in a real airplane, you could do it in a sim. Have you tried calling Flight Safety

They provide training for heavy jets and type ratings
