I have some questions about the painting of the fleet. First, how much time does it take to paint one airplane? Secondly, how much does it cost to paint one plane? Lastly, how much time does it take and how much does it cost to paint the whole fleet?

the awa fleet airbuses have been taking 5 days or 7 days depending on if they paint the wings or not.

The cost for the Airbus is approx. 55,000 per aircraft. The out of service cost is approx. 42,000 per day.

Widebody aircraft of course cost more to paint and have a higher out of service cost.

 The cost will go up, the newly painted HP aircraft are already starting to shed their paint. For 55K, US Airways is getting :mf_boff:

Here some Paint Facts -
* Typically, 60 gallons of paint are required to paint an aircraft
* It takes about 72 hours for the paint to dry
* The entire process, on average, requires a plane to be out of service
for eight to nine days
* Lighter colors of paint tend to last longer and keep the plane cooler
* Aircraft require repainting every six to seven years, depending on how
the coat is maintained and polished
* America West last updated its livery in 1996 and US Airways did so
in 1997
* The new US Airways livery was designed entirely in-house
