According to the SEC filing, he bought most of the current load (approx. 195K shares) at $2.80, giving him a total of 470,055 shares. At today's close of $3.26, that's only worth $1,532,379.30... pennies compared to his salaries and bonuses.

Regardless of the desperate lounge act Parker is entertaining us with, the fundamentals of USAirways will not change due to the crushing long-term debt, failed product to the customers and inability of the USAirways network to ever be profitable. We have seen decades of losses with USAir, why would things change with the addition of a hub in Phoenix with cut-throat competition against Southwest Airlines?

US Airways Group Inc. Chief Executive Doug Parker has bought 197,000 shares of the airline's stock, following up on a recent pledge to do so.

According to a company filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Parker bought the shares Monday for more than $550,000, spending between $2.77 and $2.80 per share.

The carrier's stock, which has traded at between $2.39 and $36.81 per share over the last year, closed Tuesday at $3.26 per share.

Last week, Parker said he would invest an amount equivalent to his 2008 salary in US Airways to demonstrate his confidence in the carrier.

Neither good nor bad. Just a meaningless gesture.

Right now, LCC is down over 10% on the day at about $2.90/share.

My prediction is that it will reach $0.25 (following the Ch 11 petition filing) before Thanksgiving. But Drunken Parker can afford the loss.

I disagree. I am not a big fan of Tempe, so plz don't get me wrong, but spending $550,000 is not meaningless no matter what you can afford.

He may have some inside info on this since I can't see him taking a loss on this amt of money.

He is the CEO, if he doesn't know what's coming up for US who does?

Fan...

They... (luvthe9) does have a point...

A scenario where the CEO of a given company (In this case LCC) with inside knowledge of an impending… stock price escalating… business transaction, that would result in his, or her own financial gain, would certainly trigger an investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Ahemm... I would hope...who knows under "W" !

So why do YOU think he spent over a half a million on LCC stock?
