Here is a copy of our petition to have the other T/A's suspended. If you copy this and get signatures please keep copy of the count so we can have an idea of how many signatures we have.

To: Jim Little, President of the TWU International

We the unionized TWU membership at American Airlines demand the suspension of our tentative agreements (Mechanics and Related, Stores, and Technical Specialists) with American Airlines.
We believe that the tentative agreements are concessionary and of a categorically discriminatory nature toward our brothers and sisters that are forty-nine years of age and younger.

Mr. Little you publicly made the claim that “if we cannot recommend it, we’re not sending it.” The Presidents and negotiators from a majority of TWU locals at American Airlines are in fact NOT recommending the terms of these proposed agreements.

It is our belief that your sound judgement in suspending the Fleet Service tentative agreement proposal for lack of recommendation should also apply to the other groups of TWU workers at American Airlines.

Mr. Little we must have our tentative agreements suspended.

Here is one view of the future

Can Fleet Service sign your petition. I want to back you guys up. Also I think if TWU screws this up there going to be history. The Teamsters Union (or so I have heard) have already approached Fleet. I guess you guys have other unions sniffing around you too. TWU better get there crap togethor.

I haven't heard anything about the Teamsters looking at Fleet. Would other unions be able to pick and choose title groups to represent after all we are under one TWU umbrella.
What about no raid clauses?

The Teamsters are not in the afl-cio, so the "no raid" clause does not apply.

I had contacted the Teamsters via E-mail about them representing us. I never got a reply either by phone or by e-mail I assume they are not interested :(

The Teamsters said some time ago (supposedly) they weren't interested in American Air even though they are not AFL/CIO affiliated anymore - there evidently IS honor amongst thieves.

We'll not have the representation we want unless we form our own union or association, and judging from history (the TWU and every other union/association out there, not to mention our country itself), the membership will eventually become complacent and not care enough to right the ship when it begins listing, much as how the TWU International gained the power it holds today with no chance of redress for the membership.

We've allowed our ranks to be split in various factions pulling in different directions - re: the title groups, it's every man/woman for themselves. This friggin' so-called "representation" continually plays one group against the other - that's a wonderful way for a so-called "UNION" to do business, isn't it? Does anybody really believe changing "leadership" or getting new representation on the property will fix this? I want some of what you're smoking - it's bound to be better than what I have.

I believe it would take far less effort (not to mention money) to replace the TWU with something of our own making rather than try to fix this mess we have now. A local trying to stand up against the home office will lose as was shown in New York when Little Jimmy removed Bob Owens and his VP from their elected offices. Unfortunately, unavoidable human complacency would, without any doubt, doom the new venture to eventual failure as with any other so-called "improvement" - it's the same as saying "Why don't THEY do something?" We are all guilty of saying that; at work or away from work, we've all said it.

Boys and girls, "THEY" did do something, and to their benefit, not ours. After all, "they" did all the work, right? While all are equal, some are more equal than others - RIGHT??

I will admit to having the KMAICR syndrome and will do so if it comes down to that, but I cannot imagine how keeping any vestige of the TWU in place would be beneficial to anyone or any entities but the company and the TWU - the workers, as usual, be damned, can eat cake, etc.

Putting out the trash is a far better solution. As the saying goes, "This can't be fixed - even with duct tape".

Well maybe your right Goose. I don't know. How could we make an in house union? Also I don't know if the mechanics would be interested in joining with Fleet again. I mean yeah we are both TWU but, we negotiate our contracts separately which weakens us both overall. How can you consider yourself in the same union when you work at the same company but have a totally different contract. Anyway nobody ever answered my question about the petition.

It shouldn't matter if the mechanics negotiated with fleet or with the pilots. The bottom line is that a contract should have nothing to do with acting like union brothers and sisters. We should have each others backs at all times, even if we don't sit at the same negotiating table. That doesn't happen because this union has taught everyone for themselves.

I'm sorry I've been away this weekend and did not take my laptop. The answer is that a fleet person signing to have another work group's contract suspended would not be appropriate. We do however appreciate your support of our cause and urge you to tell your friends in M&R, Tech Services and Supply about what is going on. It is my hope that line brothers and sisters will begin their petitions this week. If I could get an accurate count I could post the totals on www.514defenders.org

The idea about changing unions has been tried before and is IMHO a long and painful process and we need action immediately. Once this contract is brought back one way or another the International will find a way to get it to pass. My guess is through a fear and intimidation campaign or manipulation.
No one will know five people who voted yes but some how it will miraculously have passed.
It is both unfortunate and at the same time fortunate that most TWU members here at AA have finally realized that the International is part of the problem.
Once a problem has been identified then we can begin to fix it or just throw our hands up in the air and complain and watch our careers fade away.

Kevin Creaser and myself favor attempting to fix the problem. Can we get the job done?
It's a hard job but we'd rather try than give up.

Us and others are beginning to chip away at dictatorship attitudes in favor a more membership friendly democratic approach. When the International told us, "You are the union", we took them at their word. This union belongs to the membership and not Jim Little.

Jim himself says, "Evolve or dissolve". We can't evolve by having concessionary and discriminatory contracts shoved down our throats.

When the petition comes around sign the dang thing!

Kevin and I are believe that the tentative agreement the International expects us to approve is flawed and unworthy to bring back to the membership.
Words are like the wind they have a tendency to float away.
Kevin and I have begun a petition drive in Tulsa to demonstrate to Jim Little we mean what we say. It is our intent to get the majority of TWU union members in Tulsa to sign our petition. So far it is going well.

Kevin and I know that many of you at the line stations and AFW believe the same way we do. We believe if a majority of people in Tulsa, AFW and the line stations demonstrate to Mr. Little, via signed petitions, that we believe the t/a is unworthy and unrecommended perhaps he will get the message and suspend the agreement as he did with the Fleet agreement, or in a worst case scenario Mr. Little will learn that the contract has little chance of passing.

Here is the verbiage once again. Perhaps someone at each station will feel the same as us and decide to take action rather than complain about an obviously concessionary and age discriminatory tentative agreement that IS NOT being recommended by local officers.

The signatures can be sent to Tulsa and we can send them all in together or each station can send them individually. Contact me via the message feature if you choose to send them to Tulsa.

My thanks for the signatures from DFW Supply. It is this type of teamwork that demonstrates to the International, the company and the world that we are not willing to be deceived and pushed around anymore.
