Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport a mess after TSA can't check checked bags

I saw on the Today show this am that one of them got a $90,000 bonus paid out in $10,000 increments so it wouldn't be classified as a major transfer of money and have to be reported in advance to other government agencies on the lookout for large money transfers.  The guy who got the bonus manages one of the TSA groups that failed the random tests where they loaded carry-on bags with items that looked like they might be bombs--sailed right through security at the airport.

Now some Senators are asking all airlines to drop their checked bag fees during this summer season in hopes of reducing the massive lines.

Airlines should respond with "we'll drop the fees if the US government will write us a check for the revenue we don't collect."

Exhibit A in why government isn't always the best solution. The TSA has been in existence for nearly 14 years and still hasn't figured out how to properly staff airport checkpoints.

Politics has no doubt played a part, with Republicans hesitant to give TSA more money and the TSA (maybe with the Administration's encouragement) engaging in what looks like a work slowdown to enlist the public's support for higher budgets.

The TSA also credits the recent terror attacks for their "methodical diligence" in screening everyone and everything. "Can't be too safe" and "Won't someone please think of the children?"

"Methodical diligence" gotta love that. As mentioned above the guy that got the huge bonus's after they missed 95% of the hidden threat items in their own test. Wow you just can't make this stuff up.
