I am amazed at the East pilot's attitudes since this vote. Where is it OK to come up to a West crew and waive your yellow lanyard right in front of our faces as we are walking through the terminal? Where is it OK for an East f/o to go by a crew and sneer and say "Gotcha"? The unprofessionalism of some of the East pilots is juvenile to say the least. Do you always act like spoiled children who got sprung from time out? At least the crews I were with had the decency (and maturity) to ignore the antics of some pilots.

Where is it OK to deny Jumpseats to pilots coming to work or going home? Where is it OK to start a shoving match in the terminal? Where is it OK for a wanabe junior birdman to play with his little toy clicker next to an East pilot? Where is it OK for a West pilot to be an rude and arrogant a**
in front of his crew, an east crew and everyone else on a hotel bus at ORD?

Talk about unprofessional behavior!

Just like some east crews ignore the toy "crickets". So it seems nothing changes. I hope both sides will stop the antics and move on to relative peace. Doubtful in the near term, but I am hoping.

Wow - didn't realize you were keeping score.... so this really happened or you think it might have? The only jumpseats I have heard being denied were NOT by the West but by OAL.

You don't have to imagine, it was already in the works when we were gonna merge with ATA. The integration that was being talked around campus was something like a 2 to 1 or 3 to 1, already agreed upon. Nothing of DOH was EVER contemplated or even mentioned. But Boeing and Continental put a stop to all of that, and then all you sheep shaggers came along and we've been f@#%ed ever since.

ATA was established prior to AWA. I was referring to a newer airline. That ratio was because of shear volume. DOH again would have worked to their advantage.

And for the west calling us immature and juvenile....I'll bring it up again

A US FA was traveling with her family from LAS-ONT. FA has over 30 years and was number 1 on the non-rev list. There was only one problem the FA was wearing a yellow USAPA lanyard. Gate agent gave FA dirty look. FA knew what was going on but ignored it.

There were 7 other non-revs waiting in the gate area. The plane's captain came up the jetway and the FA saw him talking with the gate agent with agent pointing at her. Captain and gate agent come over to FA and tell her that she won't be allowed on the plane wearing that yellow USAPA lanyard. FA is stunned, but she tells them she won't be taking it off because she doesn't have to. Captain and gate agent go off to chat. Boarding commences and FA is watching what's going on.

FA calls a friend with Hub Access -- sure enough there are seats left and she's number 1 non-rev. As boarding progresses FA notices the 7 other non-revs are gone. FA goes to the window and watches the gate agent escort the 7 non-revs on the ramp and up the jetway stairs onto the aircraft. FA tells other agent she knows what's going on, agent says there are no seats, sorry. FA calls someone at the company who then in turn calls the ONT station manager.

When plane lands in ONT station manager greets the flight and tells everyone to stay onboard the have to get an accurate passenger count. Sure enough, flight came in with 7 more passengers than what was listed.

LAS gate agent was suspended
Pilots are under review for violating a ton of FARs.
I hope the pilots never fly again with this company. immaturity is for children. If i ever see that gate agent or the pilots, I would glady smile and offer them a USAPA tag.

I think we all need to gather 'round the campfire and discuss the folklore that is out there in all that "they said, we said", etc. I had a yellow lanyard shoved within inches of my eyes. SORRY - but do not diminish what I have experienced - the hostiity is incredible... and I deserve it because????

Frankly, I don't condone that sort of behavior from either side. We are all supposed to be professionals... and we should conduct ourselves as such... Geez...

WCT plz don't take this wrong. I wish the best to all my professional flight deck brothers. But I think your move to this new union was a bad move..
I am a flight attendant. I will not comment on the union change, that is a pilot issue. But yes, I do believe AWA would of probably filed bk, and maybe tryed another merger with Airtran, Jetblue, AL? Who knows what would of happened. All I know is we are better off now, so be it. 🙂

truer words we're never spoken, just ask any WO'd from the past decade or so

like to see 'seniority matters' put money where the mouth is if they even deign to talk to us about the flow we almost had worked out until they're little overthrow

"seniority matters" was a useful slogan for a while, it got all of the splintered USAir guys together to cash in on grabbing the west upgrades and attrition. After the honeymoon wears off, the Nicolau list doesn't go bye bye as promised and a few more pilots get fired the headscratching will begin. USAPA will then have to start looking hard for their new entity to blame after their colossal failure. I suspect it will be those testy, spoiled rookies out west. Just a hunch.

Your predictions have been right on so far there Prechill. I'm sure this one will come to pass also. You sure are clairvoyant.

Ok, as someone who is not a pilot, can someone explain to me (serious explanations, please) exactly what the USAPA win means for the pilot group? Does this void the Niccolau award? What will this mean for seniority integration? When will USAPA become the official union of the airline?

Also, is it possible that USAPA could represent other pilot groups, too? The wholly-owned US express carriers come to mind -- PI and PSA.

Pilot groups will be bolting from ALPA in droves now that USAirways has shown it CAN be done.

You make it sound like this has never been done before, pilot groups leaving ALPA. USAirways certainly is not the first.

Perhaps the offending East Pilots and crews were victims of similar antics and decided to "return the favor".

One never knows in an emotional, highly charged environment what the motivations for unprofessional conduct may be. However the key word is UNPROFESSIONAL. Time to grow up and play nice in the sandbox people. Tons of money at stake and for the sake of each other wise up and go after the money instead of each other.
Sorry Piney, but seniority is the main issue for the East pilots, not money! Dougie could of handed down a wonderful money filled contract for the East and West pilots, but Nic award was the main issue. So, being said. Move on, and negotiate USAPA! 🙄
