Pilot Recalls?

Had a fed on the jumpseat yesterday that was a furloughed ML pilot. He said he received a recall letter May 1st for a recall date of June 1st. He had taken the early retirement and won't go back, but has anyone else received a recall letter?

Word was out last week that guys who were on LOA received certified letters recalling them for June 1 or resign. What a choice..leave your current employer only to get laid off again!
 
There are no pilot recalls. All pilots who were on Voluntary Leave of Absence had their VLA cancelled. All pilots on VLA must return to work by June 1 or resign.

Pilot staffing is very tight and the seniority list/staffing is being prepared for the merger, which will be announced in the next couple of days and will stun people with the new investors and the amount of equity.

Do you remeber that Marlon Brando like guy who tried to put a package together to buy TWA in BK? He was up in the pacific northwest. Probably him. And a guy named "Eddie" :eek:

Lets consider that US blew thru Bronner's 250 million, plus a good chunk of the Air Whisky funds, plus a good chunk of the ATSB equity, all inside of a year. Pretty stunning.

One of two things is going to happen here: TPG is going to end up with enough of a stake that they own everything that's not already in hock, or most of that "stunning" amount of equity will probably go to buy TPG out of the deal.

The only thing that is "stunning" about a U/AWA deal is how fast the money "invested" will evaporate.

There is no route overlap, unless you consider PHL-PHX, PHL-LAS, PIT-PHX, and PIT-LAS overlap.......

The only deal is watching management halve the workforce, get rid of all the high priced senior employees who will see the rest of their career evaporate with the seniority integration, and in the end the whole thing goes up in smoke and some of these investors will ride into the sunset with U's prized assets for a song and no baggage to hinder a quick sale.

I'll ask you one question.......

How do you see two airlines, one marginally profitable and one losing its ass, merging and making any money?

Maybe they could work some reverse magic. UAir management was able to take two profitable airlines, mix them together and come up with a big bag of ... well, we know the history. Now, let's just call it "mirror imagery" and mix two marginal lines together and see what happens. :lol:
