US Airways notified the state this week that the airline "will be forced to cease operations" at its 761-employee Green Tree reservations center around April 22. But the center, a company spokesman said yesterday, will stay open through Oct. 31 as layoffs occur.

What the hell does that mean? Are they going to let eveyone go on the early out in March and April if they want it.

As usual, it has to be unclear and as confusing as possible just to keep us guessing.........

Does this mean that the reservations part will be closed but that ticketing, procedures and other departments will remain their until October?

The only other "part" of reservations in PIT is ticketing, procedures and all other res departments such as procedures are at RIDC and are management positions. Moving ticketing to INt is going to be a big job though, the department handles ticketing and a variety of other functions, like seats, oxygen, space positive, crew bookings, air marshalls, prepaids etc..: LOTS of functions for a very small group of agents.

If it is ceasing operations, then what the heck are these 761 employees going to be doing - Packing?
