Rhapsody Revived

I love it. Like some other things, Rapsody is timeless. I really like the black shoe - brown shoe thing.

Awesome! I loved the businessman concept. Good bit of humor in it and the music was fantastic. I'd been waiting for UA to return to that for years. We should've also gotten Gene Hackman to do the voice-over while we were at it. People really identified with both the music and his voice.

But great. I'm glad to see they're thinking outside the box and returning, in some ways, to things that have proven to be winners in the past. Congrats to all involved.

Cheers,

I'm all for Gene Hackman doing the voiceovers.

Fly the airline that is uniting the world

I read somewhere else that there were going to 4 or 5 ads similiar to the one that was released today. Anybody have any information?

As I look at the four different print ads I can't help but think "Funky and different." Has a certain Nordstrom Quality from about two or three years ago mixed with something else I can't put my finger on.

It's very United... High Brow artistic. Just like when we rolled out the Economy Plus ad campaign. We used peas in a pod instead of just the facts. We appeal to the intellectual traveller a bit more.

This campaign looks like nothing else out there in the aviation world and I think over all it's OK. I just hope it's not too high brow that people forget the underlying message!

Getting the Rights to "Rhapsody in Blue" was the best thing UA marketing ever did! Classy! It's so identifiably UA! Just like Intel's little ditty or Duracell's chime... it sticks with the brand identity and works!

oh yeah.... the video ad was really cute too. Gene Hackman was definately missing!

I see what they're talking about with the "emotional connection". Everyone can understand the thrill of getting a job!

Great job!

Love the tv ad. The guy got the job despite his fashion faux pas. Focus on the positive. Kudos to Fallon.

You look like Groucho not DB! R Blues was always very catchy for me and I think of UAL when I hear it. But it doesn't induce me to buy a ticket on UAL!

I'M IN LOVE!!!!!!!!!

I absolutely love the campaign... classy, warm, and doesnt look like anything else current. I like that its "classic" rather than the tacky, loud, "smart-ass" style of advertising favored by LCCs these days. GREAT job, I cant rave about it enough!

🙁 Why, oh why, wont US Airways market itself?

This is why it comes across that the US Airways employees are begging for a merger. No matter the hard times you guys are in, you have always had great marketing and classy ads. It makes you feel proud. We at U are itching for leadership AND marketing.

I think it is great that UAL is going back to the basics that gave the customer back in the 'good ole days' a good feeling of what it is like to fly UA and I think that is what is missing especially after the rapid changes when 9/11 accured and how those events changed how people may see flying as a stressfull experience when it comes to security issues regarding the saftey of flying.

I must agree with other posters that the new ad is classy and high brow. But, I must also agree with another poster, will these ads inspire people to buy tickets on United?
