Jet Blue opens new maintenance hangar at JFK Airport

NEW YORK (AP) Jet Blue Airways has opened a new 45 (M) million dollar maintenance facility at John F. Kennedy Airport. The 140-thousand square foot complex will also hace offices for the discount airline.
Jet Blue says it will have 300 employees in the building.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg - who was on hand today for a ribbon cutting to the new building - says New York City's economy is growing across all five boroughs.
More than 35-thousand people are employed at J-F-K. Another nine thousand people work at LaGuardia.
Jet Blue is the top carrier at J-F-K Airport with about 23 percent of the passengers using the discount airline. Jet Blue operates 288 flights a day to 29 destinations in 12 states, the Dominican Republic and the Bahamas. The airline says it is planning a new 875 (M) million dollar passenger terminal with 26 gates at J-F-K.
