I had the opportunity to look over the IBT's latest propaganda.

I think they may have forgotten who they are attempting to displace.

The TWU is the incumbent union and not AMFA.

The TWU is the union you must remove from the property. The TWU should be a very easy target for the Teamsters these days.

Why are the Teamsters not focused on the TWU and instead focused on AMFA?

It seems that the Teamsters and the TWU are one and the same these days.

Teamsters and TWU.... more of the same ol' ... well you know how it goes

If AMFA is so insignificant in the industry then why are the two unions teaming up against AMFA?

Like the title suggest's rumors of their demise are greatly exaggerated.

I am Dennis Hayes a line mechanic at Seattle and I urge any mechanic and related reading this to fill out an election card and allow the class and craft to have a fair and democratic election to determine our future representation. The last time an election occurred for our class and craft was 1948. I believe we are overdue for another one.

It is my hope you will choose a union that is laser focused on our class and crafts issues rather than other broader more socialist issues. It is my hope you choose AMFA.

But, don't you see? Even if the line maintenance gets outsourced to Pep Boys or Jiffy Lube, the TWU will see to it that Tulsa is kept open; so, a majority of what will be left will vote for the TWU.

I think its the other way around, AA's line mechanics will be going to Pep Boys or Jiffy Lube because they dont want to be bothered with AA anymore.

No airline has ever outsourced their line maint and kept their OH in house. I doubt AA will be the first.

I was being sarcastic, Bob. However, I don't thnk you can deny that TUL will always vote for what is best for TUL even if it means wholesale job losses in other locations.

I know that Jim, but I wasnt.

Like I said before once I hit 55 I'm working for just $25/hr, throw in commuting expenses and time and that knocks it below $20/hr, it may be worth my while to retire from AA and get a job close to home, even if it pays less than what AA pays because the pension would suppliment may earnings.

The average age for mechanics at AA is somewhere around 54. Everywhere I go I see signs "Mechanics Wanted" whether at gas stations, on the back of school Busses and trucks or in the newspapers. Once you are able to draw on a pension even older mechanics should be able to find work.

Well, I'll be 68 in March, and I'm on my 5th career. In this day and age, work experience, work ethic, and ability count a lot more with employers than age.

See? We have less to fear than the AATD fearmongers say.

I agree, back when Pan Am finally closed their doors AA was hiring mechanics who were in their 60s. Thats all there was. Thats all there will be in a few short years.

Now why would AA want to outsource any maint.? They have us locked into the lowest pay in the industry for at least 6 years and probably 4 more years after that. By that time most of us will be in our 60s so that gives AA lots of time to get ready. But if the TWU is still around you can rest assured that they will be all too willing to offer AA another great deal.
