From a pilot friend: in BOS yesterday apparently JBLU 447 started to take off but suddendly stopped as an Airtran was landing on 4R. Jblu was taking off on R09.

this was around 3ish ?
does anyone have the particulars or the tower number in BOS?

From another pilot: There was a VERY close call last week between a USAirways B737 and an Aer Lingus A330. Both aircraft were departing from intersecting runways. The A330 went over the top of the 737. Nearly another Tenerife.

Shouldn't they be called "Near Hits" instead of "Near Misses"?

If they missed each other, than they nearly hit.

If they hit each other, than they nearly missed.
