Just got an email from AFA that Flight Attendant SAP is delayed. catcrew is on and off. Shares is down according to a gate agent in philly. The new phone system in occ just puts calls into a holding pattern with music. what in the heck is going on? this is a mess!

Yep that's it.
Our computers were working in station today, but the printers were down. Had to handwrite boarding passes and bagtags. Lines started to get long, so we ended up waiving bag charges and change fees for a couple hours this afternoon since we also couldnt get receipts or auditors coupons. Finally a couple of printers started working, but we have about 20 bag tags and 50 boarding passes for the same person that just keep coming out of the same printer. Finally shut them all down and hand wrote everything the rest of the night. Interestingly though, the sales reports printed out tonight when we closed. Supposedly a cable was cut somewhere and the rerouting overloaded the system? At least that is what the IT guy was telling us.

Yes, the link that Jim posted, a fiber cable outside of a data center in tempe was cut.
Uhmmm.....I thought that things like uptime etc, there were certain standards to have a backup in situations like this if the main lines go down, or cut, that you can still communicate.........guess that was in IT 101...to long ago...

GROUNDHOG NABBED IN COMPUTER OUTAGE
Arizona Litter Box Reporter Dawn Gilbertson tonight reported the apprehension of renowned groundhog Punxsutawney Phil, allegedly responsible for today's computer outage at US Airways.
Phil, relocated to the desert after service reductions in Pittsburgh, claims he was disoriented while burrowing. Unaccustomed to sand, unable to hibernate, and unable to locate anything edible Phil allegedly chewed through the only cable linking US Airways system nationwide to a computer.
US Airways Vice-President of Not Taking Responsibility for Anything Elise Eberwein stated "What is a groundhog? Why don't you go away? Obviously some Eastie is sabotaging the resounding success of our computer system."
The wayward rodent is being held in the Maricopa County Prison and has been forced to wear pink underwear.
Phil is hoping for release in time to see his shadow on Groundhog Day.
