What's new

SoCal Fires.

Just wondering why they "must" be west schedulers. Just another example of why we will never be a cohesive unit. Could it have have been just a PERSON with issues? . My prayers are with all who are affected by this disaster or any other personal hardship they've had to endure. Mama

Nope, wasn't west, and there's no such thing as "new" on the east. Just a bunch of old foggies relishing in wreaking havoc on the lives of unsuspecting crew members.

What it boils down to mama, is a case of some one said that some one said they heard such and such, and by god! It must be true!!! When in reality it is a total fabrication on the part of some cry baby begging for attention...negative attention. Happens on here all the time.

Happens on here? lol Hula, I hope everyone knows how to filter what they read on this board or this airline has bigger problems! Hope all is well with you and glad to see you posting again. Seriouly, this airline has a severe public image problem and these types of posts make it even worse. Can we focus on what we have done to help? Just heard San stadium is plain opulent and some evacuees say its better than home but of course you still hear that equipment and help wasnt fast enough in reaching socal. Nothing is perfect but it looks like alot was learned from Katrina. Lets hope airline employees affected benefited if they were in need. I dont know what the scheduling deal was but if it was not professional or handled with compassion a well drafted letter regarding the situation may be needed. Maybe timely directives were not given and no provsions were put in place for affected employees. Maybe that was the issue. If employees were failed in a crisis maybe this can be a learning situation also. Mama

Luckily all calls to scheduling are recorded. If there was a situation, I can assure you that the tape would be pulled at the f/a's request and the employee(s) dealt with.

That aside, good seeing you too! will be sending a pm in a minute or 2

Well lets hope that those who find themselves in a difficult situation can find SKED to be accommodating. Its like being based in LAX again. Watching TV non stop during the riots. The last fires(doesn't seem like it was 4 years ago.) which looked like a version of Dante's "Inferno". If you have breathing problems don't pick up LAX,SAN.
For the west people on here-what is the situation with your SKED and the condition of your people?

my post regarding the "west" schedulers comes from many many friends of mine who are "west" FAs and I've even HEARD some of the calls from crew scheduling. Some of these guys & gals are PRETTY rough and push the FA's left & right, and the moment the FA brings up the contract, the conversation spirals into a yelling match.

Must be because of the former management's ability to attain career-minded individuals for these positions *grin*

i sure hope that all of the ose afected people be able to rebuild their lives and hope for the better. my prayers and thoughts go out to all of the affected people

YES my avatar DOES speak volumes. My avatar speaks VOLUMES as to how this company is. No matter what they do it comes across as tacky and has been nothing but a downer since the merger. In their eyes they see improvements but...whah, whah, whah...filled with nothing but "yeah buts". But I digress. As for the he said she said and so on and so on and so on.....this is no 70's shampoo commercial. Hula why you feel this is untrue is irrelevant. What would I or beachboy have to gain by this story? A. I don't live on the west coast B. Schedulers are not always understanding in situations and C. The company seems to be taking action with the single person while they have legitimate reason for not accepting the switch in trips. Honestly. 🙄

My prayers to all the East, West fa's and pilots that commute out of Southern CA. We have a lot of SAN and LAX commuters, god bless you guys! Stay strong.

Another reason for employees to rid themselves of the east/west issue and get to work helping each other. If there are issues with west sked, they might end up being east issues too. At some point work groups will be merged and east f/a's may be dealing with west sked. It comes down to doing the right thing whatever your job responsibilities. Customer service should be internal and external. Regards, Mama

Thank you all for your good wishes. I called my supervisor and she took care of everything including bidding for Dec. In my No. County school district 20+ teachers/employees and 340 students lost their homes. We were lucky. We were evacuated for 5 days (3 times) running like rats all over this city. Once the 15 north was closed the only way out was the 5 north. That freeway was a parking lot. We ended up staying at my daughters dorm at SDSU with a lot of frantic student...you could see the hills on fire. The next day we went to family in orange co. only to be met with more fires. The 5 north closed shortly after we got into orange co. very scary, end of the world stuff. I had my kids with me and the fear of doing the right thing was horrible. We are back home cleaning up the soot and ash and dealing with panic attacks. The after math of an emergency emotionally is no fun. I never realized how debilitating it can be. My supervisor said that Andrew sent a message that the Company was working out a way to allow us to claim time missed. I just hope I can get my emotions in check. I can't imagine those that lost their homes. Many of us are wondering how we were so lucky to keep ours.

Those of you from PSA that remember Joan Himmel... she lost her home. Her husband Larry Himmel is a local newscaster and he reported live watching his home burn to the ground. Very sad. If I can give any advice to prepare for this it would be to scan all family pictures and important papers onto a disc and give one to some one to keep for you. All the collectables mean nothing but those pictures and movies of kids growing up and special moments can be saved with a little planning. In addition, write out an evacuation plan like what to take and where to meet who to contact. It truly was amazing how blank your mind can become. I couldn't even put an outfit together. I was thankful for my flight bag since it was still packed from the last trip. I did forget pillows and blankets. Had to laugh cause I grabbed my Louie purse.....guess if I was to be homeless it would be in style.
