WASHINGTON, Sept. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Teamster mechanics at Southwest Airlines are preparing for a ratification vote on a tentative contract agreement. The tentative agreement was reached with the company on August 29, 2002.

We are in the process of holding meetings with our members to explain the contract provisions, said Ray Benning, Teamsters Airline Division Director. This agreement was the result of hard work by the negotiating committee and we want every member to understand the offer in full before the ratification vote.
While specific contract details are not being released pending membership meetings, the contract offer does include wage increases and stock options. If ratified, the contract will extend through August 16, 2005, and any pay raises will be retroactive from August 16, 2001.
The national contract covers more than 1,300 mechanics in Dallas, Houston, Phoenix, Chicago, Baltimore and other cities.
The mechanics at Southwest Airlines are an integral part of our Airline Division, said James P. Hoffa, Teamsters General President. Their hard work helps ensure safety and we are proud to represent these workers.
Founded in 1903, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters represents more than 1.4 million hardworking men and women throughout the United States and Canada.
Something to think about when voting ? Will there be another tommorrow here? I think so , if you make the right decision with your vote!
