For the love of God, are there any plans to give the US Airways/America West passengers the space they deserve in Terminal 1 from the Southwest passengers? It is an absolute mess! Southwest pax (morons)line up in the concourse and it's virtually impossible for someone to get by, then they're sitting in three separate lines on the floor so they can get a seat they want. There's no space to sit, no place to stand, WTF is with the CREW store in the middle where seats should be?? This terminal is the worst I've seen. Anybody in Tempe working on this?

It's a huge mess. There was talk of taking the HP gates and moving them on the same side of the terminal with the US gates and WN to take the HP gates. But that was just talk. Not sure what will happen now.

US use to have all of one side of terminal 1 when it took over PSA. But US ran from WN and basically gave them terminal 1.

Please tell me its not as bad as you say it is.........

If its that bad, i think something should be done to fix the situation........

I second that it's *THAT* bad..

An Elite line would be awesome too... and do not give me the "cr&p" that Southwest doesn't want it... too bad. Other terminals have it at LAX. Terminal 1 is a mess. I would not mind seeing US with UA... but we will seee.

My favorite is when the security line from T1 stretches down the curb to T2.

I think US should leave T1 and move to T7. It's like a ghost town over there. And, easy connections to UA Star flights.

LAX is a painful mess. And there is no elite line because of WN. They bring the lion's share of pax landing fees, so the airport authority chooses to listen to them. LAX is a shared use airport, so whatever terminal you happen to be in, you share with your neighbors. Luckily for US, our neighbor is ever-so-congenial WN, excepting LAX. They are raving bastards there and won't budge an inch. Since we can't agree on elite line/no elite line, my gates/your gates, we frequently have to get the airport authority involved, and they always side w/ WN.

HP's masterplan to turn LAX into a mini-hub w/ international RJ flying (what a joke!) and JFK/BOS transcon 🙄 was meant to give HP more muscle, and we prayed for the day US would move to UA's terminal. Now, obviously, things have changed. The only way to get more money into that terminal so we can even get an elite line, is to get more pax moving through it, and it'll be an uphill battle bumping into WN's butt the entire time until it happens. It's also a bit of a chicken/egg conundrum. I doubt, though, based on overall location, that we'd be much interested in moving.

T-1 is just too damn SMALL for both WN and HP/'US, and there's no room to extend it!
Somebody (and I really don't care who) needs to be, um, persuaded to move down to T-3.
Three (ex-TWA and ex-Reno) is almost a ghost town since AA consolidated at T-4. I think it's pretty much just Alaska and Midwest. It's been allowed to get pretty shabby (but probably still nicer than PHL!) but it could certainly be spruced up and there's a LOT more room down there than at T-1. Just a thought...

N311AW and mga707,

That's the kind of problem solving skill that US needs more of right now. Tempe should be reading this thread and contemplating your suggestions instead of sitting on their hands and waiting for a sign from the heavens for an answer.

Kudos to both of you!

There is actually a first class line/club line. You take the elevator up to the second level where you go to security. They will ask for your boarding pass or your club card. You can get to the front of the security line by using that.

So that is one way of avoiding it. It may work if you show your preferred card as well. I have always been in first class and not coach so I am not sure if the preferred card will work or not. I am sure someone on here can answer that.

LAX is a mess for certain and always has been. There is a benefit to our location there and that is close proximity to the runway for takeoff which is generally made from the closer runway without taxiing to the other side of the airport.

USAir passangers get their fair share, they just need to be a bit more physical. When is the last time you have seen the police crowd control unit called? One just can't lay back and expect everything to be given to you on a silver platter. Exert yourself !
