My favorite part... he keeps harping on the fact that the repubs need to recruit the independents, but then he says "If our party doesn't address the needs of the people -- the needs of Republicans themselves -- the voters, registered Republicans included, will look elsewhere for their political affiliation."

He apparently is missing the point of Independents; indies are not "looking elsewhere for their political affiliation," they are leaving political affiliation altogether.
