This weekend I saw a very funny movie called "Soul Plane" starring Snoop Dogg and Tom Arnold.

The main character in the movie uses the money he won from suing another airline to start the first all-black airline, NWA, as a means to win back his girlfriend. However, the maiden NWA flight does not go smoothly when a white family is mistakenly re-routed onto the plane.

I am just curious if NWA had to OK this airline name, or if it just happened.

NWA was/is just initials or the 3 letter code NOT the name of either airline.

I haven't seen the movie, and don't plan to, as just last night I saw one of its stars D.L. Hughly say it was a terrible movie. That's pretty bad when one of the guys getting the bling bling is dissing it. But I digress...

Since I haven't seen the movie, I don't know what the NWA stands for in the movie, but I don't think Northwest Airlines has exclusive rights to the initials. Back in the late 80's Dr. Dre, Easy E, Ice Cube and a few less famous rappers formed the rap group N.W.A. - "Niggaz With Attitude" (for the record, I despise the use of the "N" word, but that was name of the group with the "az" on the end and all). NWA's most famous album was "Straight Outta Compton" - a ground breaking record which defined rap as it is today - released in 1989.

The initials NWA will never conjure up the image of an airline for me... rather a controversial, yet very talented rap group from the late 80's and early 90's.

Exactly! And although throughout the entire movie the actual name of the airline is never mentioned. I took it upon myself to replace "Attitude" with "Airline".

I though this when they first put nwa on the planes. It was like "oh no, someone needs to tell them..."

The movie is apparently not only highly offensive trash, but really bad.

Trademarks and Copyrights arn't violated by Parody. This movie was really really funny!! A modern "in-the hood" redo of "Airplane"!
