The White House's recent addition of a Norman Rockwell painting has prompted a serious discussion of civil rights. Rockwell's 1963 painting, "The Problem We All Live With," shows a young girl on her way to first grade after the school board mandated the desegregation of two New Orleans schools in 1960.

To commemorate the piece, President Obama received a visit from Ruby Bridges, the student depicted in the painting. At six years old, Bridges was escorted by Federal Marshals to William Frantz Public School as its first African American student, thereby signaling the beginning of the integration of the local public school system.

Someone was trying to call me a racist I think?

Someone who doesn't know me from a potted plant. Someone who could be a whole lot like "Kerosene" Maxine Waters when it comes to race.

We as a nation went through terrible growing pains when we confronted how we treated blacks. I grew up during those troubled times. They are not abstract to me. Did we as a nation hide our flaws in a foggy haze of propaganda? NO! It was there on the evening news for all to see and some in living color. Was it pretty? NO! Did it make some of us ashamed? YES, it did. Did it "Color" my life? YES it did.

As a manager of hourly employees I was chastised for Hiring to many of "them" and funny thing was, I asked "Who is them". We were growing like crazy, I hired a ton of black people who frankly worked their asses off for me. In business there is but one color and that's grean. Funny thing is that most of the people from that time in my life that stayed in touch are????? Yep, black.

They knew my views about the government, I never hid them and yet I hear from them more than whites. Go figure???

Maybe they are smarter than YOU thought?

While we on the racist thing.....what party exploited a certain ethnic group for votes and now that same group blindly supports the party that is enslaving them through federal subsidy programs?
