Northwest Airlines Corp. rolled back a round-trip increase in airfares that was started last week after Delta Air Lines Inc. increased its fares by $10.

Delta raised many of its domestic fares last Thursday, and was matched over the next two days by AMR Corp.'s American Airlines, UAL Corp.'s United Airlines.

However, Northwest Airlines only matched the increase partially, and on only about one-fifth of its routes. A spokesman for Northwest confirmed Monday that the Eagan-based carrier would rescind the hike in fares, after Delta announced Monday morning they would do the same.
