Speaking of Tulsa, I was bored so I started doing some research into our Boston Consultant group on Google, and I came across another consultant group working for American Airlines in the area of joint union/company bootlicking fests. ;) I guess one consultant group is just not enough, and I thought it was the creative thinking of our highly compensated executives coming up with these ideas, I guess I was wrong. :p

Anyway, check them out, their called "The Mayer Group," bio to follow:

A major emphasis of Mike's work has been in the area of employee participation where he has worked with joint union/management clients such as Goodyear and the United rubber Workers, the FAA and PASS, Northern Indiana Public Service and the United Steelworkers of America. Mike worked with these and other clients to develop organizational change strategies, support leadership groups in implementing strategic changes, and trained hundreds of managers, union members and employees in group problem solving and decision making processes.

Much of Mike's efforts are focused on providing consulting, facilitation, survey / assessment design, and training in the areas of collaborative teams, customer service, training development, leadership development, recruiting and outplacement training, sociotechnical analysis and work redesign, and team building. His current and former clients range from very small to large companies and include ... American Airlines, and many others.

Do you have your house's air conditioner worked on by a master auto mechanic who knows how to fix auto air conditioners, or do you call in a HVAC mechanic who only works on larger units?

BCG is a management generalist, and Mayer is a specialist. If you're going to use consultants, you might as well get someone who knows what they're dealing with, even if that means having more than one consultant on property.

Do all of these Consulting firms get charged against Labor Cost in the manipulation guru's tactics of cooking the books 101? Or which Budget does this expense get charged against?

Damn, another thread thrown off topic.

The so-called "Generalist" Consulting only got us a BBQ Sandwich and $50 Gift Card, maybe the "Speacialist" Consultant will get us a labor agreement worth voting yes on. Anything short of that, will not advance any consulting group very far with our work group.

I dont go to work to get along, witness pajama parties, and solve problems, I go to work for a paycheck!

There are consultants out there who will advise a company on how to weaken a labor union and how to exploit bankruptcy laws, as well. The latter group has seen their rice bowl cracked, though.

So.... who got appointed in TUL?

Bill

You better get on top of this even those not represented paying dues to the TWU have figured it out

So exactly what part of management would you consider to be Mayer’s specialty?

Rumor has it that Sheriffs Office was called to TWU Local 514 over dispute regarding safeguard of ballots over night.

This is going to get ugly!

That rocks...

Can't understand why it takes 3 days to count to 1,600--that's only 80 bubba believers using their fingers and toes to count.

BTW...Ugly is when they steal the election and than are promptly booted off the property. ;)

Actually latest figures are that appx. 3400 ballots were retrieved from the "secure" Post Office Box.

WOW! 1900+ in the last week.

Interesting.

I am trying to track details on the security dispute and Sheriffs' visit to the TWU Local 514 Hall.

Too bad they wouldn't let me play.

No Doubt the Department of Labor will soon be involved.

Wasn't the Sheriff, it was the Tulsa Police and the K9 Unit.

Seems a "programmer" was at the union hall at 10:30pm and a Candidate was sitting his car in the parking lot watching for misdeeds at the ballot box and wanted to know why he was there.

"Programmer" calls Police.

Candidate shows Police employee identification, union card, and is wearing AA Mechanic Uniform.

Programmer is not even an employee or union member.

Candidate watches programmer leave later on with a remote to open security gate.

Nobody seems to be able to answer what the programmer was working on, why he was there at 10:30, why he was not escorted by union officers or members, why this non-member/officer has security gate remote and keys to building, or who was paying him to be there. Nobody seems to know anything about this event or this person.

Suspicions are running very high.

3400 Ballots still not counted.

My God this election process is like some crime suspense movie instead of reality.

That is today's update.
Stay tuned, much more to come I am sure!

And that is exactly why I asked:

How is the election committee elected? Will there be observers at the count?

Crooked elections are an old union tradition.

Speaking of voting, I found an old email from Little, dated 1 Mar 2003:

"So far we have not been in negotiations with the Company. However, I can answer the basic question, if we were to have a proposal from the Company on concessions, the membership will have to ratify any changes to the CBA. The same as the last agreement."

Election Committee is voted in by the 250 stooges that attend that Local Union Meeting the month after new officers are installed.
