So much for recalling AMT's to ensure an overwhelming "Yes" vote on any tentative contract.
So I gather that you are bent-over and willing to accept American's offer.
I didn't get that from The Goose's or Joe's somewhat concise posts.
What you saw NWA do was permanently replace its mechanics with scab labor, and the striking mechanics took a much worse deal to end their strike that had no chance in hell to begin with.
Of the 800-1000 mechs at NWA now, less than 100 are not scab labor. Is that the knid of situation you would put the American mechanics in?
All of the spoken toughness of the NWA mechanics through AMFA was nullified by the company's preparations. For all the grief it caused the mechanics, there was no serious harm done to NWA due to their preparations I mentioned and NWA's political connections to keep the FAA off their collective posterior. There was, however, plenty of damage done to our trade and the wage scales. NWA was successful. Put down the Kool Aid.
So if AA said they were going to close all the overhaul bases, all the class II stations and layoff a third of what was left the mechanics still shoudnt strike? That would still leave me with a job, how about you?
AA is having enough trouble getting recalls back. There arent enough mechanics out there for AA to do what NWA did. Why do you think all these other airlines are sending their work to AA? AA is even doing line maintenance for other carriers because they cant get mechanics.
Only in the minds of those who dont look at it for what it was. NWA and the AFL-CIO were successful at intimidating the uninformed and the meek and taking the momentum out of AMFA. If AMFA had not struck do you think NWA would have any more than the 800 to 1000 mechanics they still have? By sticking to "full pay till the last day" those thousands of workers (lets not forget that the company wanted to eliminate ALL the non-A&P jobs at AMFA) who would have lost their jobs either way had the opportunity to bank an extra $40,000 that we had already given up. NWA remains a failing airline and will soon be history, while they pretend they were victorious the fact is the strike is a contributing factor to their demise. NWA will no longer exist but the mechanics have moved on.
The fact is that mechanics today, despite the massive cuts we have seen are still better off because of AMFA. Our hourly rate is higher than it was prior to 2000, the same can not be said for all the other TWU represented workers. AMFA raised the bar. I would rather take a 25% paycut from $35/hour than a 25% paycut from $25/hr.
<_< fleet------ just one question. Are you a AMT?I read and still can't believe what kind a A Holes are on this site. You could care less of any member other that yourself. AMFA sure raised the bar. Opened the door for layoffs. Some people would rather have a job. No job pays 0. Don't need a paycut then. Fact is most of you are gone. By to you soon one day.

How much or what do you propose I further sacrifice to save you? Or even further sacrifice to save myself?
We gave away the farm and you say I am still soon gone anyway.
Your own posting underscores the stupidity in the concessions for jobs theory.

At this point, concessions for jobs is your reality. From your previous posts I know you will choose to ignore this reality and fight on to the bitter end, but I'm going to make the point anyway. Your destiny is entirely in your own hands. AA is not certainly doomed to success or failure. That's up to employees and management and how well the two groups can come together to survive this crisis. I'm not one-sided on this: management should chuck its payouts out and tie future payouts to profitability. Payouts for non-management should be the same, so everyone is playing by the same rule book.
The reality is your gonna pay more for a plane ticket and that extra bag!!!!!!!!![]()
