Keep reading and you'll see MEX will likely get the STAR boot also. What i think is going on is that UAL (and U) have been considering expanding flights to parts of MEX over the course of the next months. This presumably takes traffic from Mexicana and it's MEX hub. Don't be surprised if -TED announces a currently unserved destination from the DEN hub that is "south of the border"......
