What comes as no surprise to me , The UA Flight Attendents have ratified an agreement to take cuts amounting to $412 Million over the course of the next 5 and 1/2 years.
The margin was 87% to 13% in favor of the needed cuts. This of course leaves the UA Mechanics and IAM members as the sole hold out. Looks familiar doesn't it?
CHICAGO (Reuters) - Thousands of flight attendants voted on Saturday to accept millions of dollars in pay cuts from beleaguered United Airlines, which analysts believe is teetering on the edge of bankruptcy.
About 87 percent of United Airlines' flight stewards and stewardesses voted yes to a new contract with United, which is seeking a $1.8 billion bailout from the federal government to stave off bankruptcy. About two-thirds of the No. 2 airline's 24,000 flight attendants voted.
The flight attendants have made the difficult but necessary decision to contribute our part in the financial restructuring of United, said Greg Davidowitch, a representative of the Association of Flight Attendants.
UAL Corp. is United's parent company.
The attendants voted to allow pay cuts of $412 million over 5-1/2 years.
