So, if I understand you correctly, the stupid thing was getting caught, right? After all, that's what led him to resign. It's also what caused Bob Livingston to resign, if you recall.

Oooops.....honor and politics, regardless of party affiliation, in the same sentence...now that’s an "oxy-moron".... hey, if you ever get called back...better clean up a little, ya know, that little pee test and all

Well, no. From the news reports I saw, he was trying to say that all he did was "proposition his wife in a public place"; other than that "admission", a la Clinton, he was blaming the media, the other party, and their dogs for forcing him out of the race. Not what I would call honorable, just typical politician.

Also, he was several points behind the Dem candidate in the polls before the sex club news broke. Wonder if that had anything to do with his dropping out?

<_< jimntx------Hamm! This whole coversation smakes of an "Artical 32"!!!!IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN jimntx?????? 😛

Was the scene to which I refer later in the film? Do I even have the correct film or am I getting it confused with a completely different movie? Perhaps one such as Sir John Mills 'Scott of the Antartic' (though such a scene on the ice is a bit doubtful as I do not think there was orginized crime in this location quite yet) or the 1959 comedy 'Don't panic Chaps' with Dennis Price?' Maybe a take from Black Adder Goes Forth?
The point is that Mr. Hastert is playing upon the heartstrings of many a good worker who believe that this man can actually influence events.
As a wag once said, the only man to enter Parliament with good intentions was Guy Fawkes and look what it got him!

A holiday named in his honour!

In the very first scene of Godfather I, the undertaker indeed asks Don Corleone for justice. In fact, the first lines in the movie are:

BLACK SCREEN

UNDERTAKER

"I believe in America..."
FADE IN TO:
Don Corleone's office.

🙂
