Friday night, a United Express CRJ-700 just missed hitting a small private plane at ABE. It was travelling at 140mph and swerved and braked to avoid the private plane which missed the turnoff.

kudos to the flight crew to avoid disaster on the runway. the plane had 60 pax on board not know how many on the privat plane

as far as i know, the crew was not at fault. The tower at that time had relatively inexperienced in the tower, 3 others working the radar, and 3 others, including a supervisor, on break. one of the 2 realtive inexperienced cleared the UAL jet for takeoff and the 2 tower agents failed to look straight ahead that the privatge plane didnt get off the runway. needless to say the ua crew were p!$$ed

The United Express crew did not look down the runway to ensure it was clear prior to the start of the takeoff roll. They took someone's word that the runway was clear. So yes, the United Express crew is at fault.
