Here's an interesting idea. As opposed to United looking for a new regional feeder to its Dulles hub, why doesn't United and US Airways broaden their code-sharing agreement and feed United (particularly with west coast bound traffic) from US Airways Express markets?

It might be something actually profitable for the wholly-owned turboprops to do.

wow....I mentioned this the other day and got blasted.

Well PDT is down to 40 aircraft. ALG will be down to 18 by the end of 2004. I don't think the wholly-owneds will be offered to UA out of IAD.

But hey, maybe UA will buy them jets!!

Maybe that is where the supposed 60 new airplanes are going.

e-mailed dave seigel about this subject about 30 min ago. just got a response. said that airways needs all the rj feed it can get right now so ua needs to worry about themselves.

If that isn't a distancing statement about an UCT/ICT....What the heck is?

I think Seigel is right on this....We need to focus on the multitude of issues we have of our own. We shouldn't be concerned about bolstering UA...when we have our own slippery slope to navigate.

I hope that PDT and ALG can be seen as the true prizes they are...and hopefully some RJ's can come their way too !!

A little birdie told me PSA is planning to obtain the CRJ 700 this Feb...........in addition to the 60 CRJ 200's, already on schedule.

a PSA pilot told me tonight (dec.24) that PSA may actually get some of the 70 seaters and then add a few more of them as well as a few less of the 50 seater crj
And they are also possibly going to take over some long routes such as PHL-STL

By contract, the 25 CRJ-700s ordered by US Airways must be flown at a wholly owned carrier. US Airways management acquiesced to ALPA's position on the CRJ-705 (Variant) position, therefore, if management does not intend to fly RJs at Allegheny or Piedmont, the CRJ-700s with firm delivery positions must be flown at PSA.

In regard to MidAtlantic filling United's Dulles RJ void, the new mainline RJ division is a critical component to US Airways' restructuring plan and will be instantly profitable. The EMB-170 will have a 50% break even load factor and US Airways does not want to split profits unless absolutely necessary.

Regards,

Chip
