Upset passengers of diverted flight spend night in Goose Bay, N.L., barracks

Passengers on a United Airlines flight to London, England, late Friday are upset that their flight was diverted to Goose Bay, N.L., and they had to spend the night in frigid army barracks.

On top of that, the passengers learned the flight crew was put up in the local hotel and no one from the airline kept them informed of the situation.

Sallie Coventry tweeted: "@united crew arrived, looking fresh from their comfy night in a hotel #outrageous"

Yes, please be jealous that the crew had enough rest to do their job.

They should have slept on the tarmac and given you their rooms... :p

no, #### doesn't just happen.

Airlines must have contingency plans to deal with crises like this and deal with the backlash if they don't meet customer expectations.

Other airlines have had diversions like this happen and had a rescue plane with a fresh crew in the air before the diverted plane is even on the ground.

Goose Bay is within a few hours flight of the NE US where all US int'l airlines have major operations.

has nothing to do with the topic and didn't involve a diversion let alone on an int'l route.
