Post merger US Airways doing MUCH better financially. I'm not for service reductions or anything, but those who keep saying that US Airways will go bust are clearly missing something! US Airways is actually doing better than ever.

The only thing I'd note about your list is the 2003 number - all that debt that was written off in BK1 became one-time non-cash earnings upon exit, greatly inflating the profit that year. And since the big debt items had been written off in BK1, there was only a minor effect coming out of BK2.

King - you've got management written all over you. How'd you get a hold of that special kool-aid?? Better than ever?!? If you are looking at pure profits, that's still not correct. If you are looking at operational performance, this may be the lowest point in the entire company history.

Looks like this thread is destined for a "We saved you" vs. "We are making all the money on the east" looong and drawn out biatchfest. If this is the case, PLEASE..no more. If not, Pacemaker, what exactly is the point to your thread?

I don't want to start that old "who saved who" business, but I am curious to compare the fifteen years between the two carriers. Clearly, US East had her problems, as displayed here.

Funny how two troubled carriers can combine and suddenly be so profitable. It makes you wonder about creative accounting practices.

Or that you really CAN shrink and cheapen a product into profitablity.

You may be able to shrink and cheapen to profitability, but other airlines became comparably profitable but also figured out how to make their customers happier than US' customers are right now...better product, fairer prices etc.

I think this will come back to bite them in the end. First things first, however, let's get a reliable operation. When I get FAIR pricing and can count on getting to my destination within 12 hours of my original schedule, I might try them again.

Sadly Art, they don't care. Do they miss you? Have they made an effort to win you back? I doubt it. They just see you as a pest and can't blame you for walking away and not looking back.

LCC,

When their profits turn into losses they will begin to care.

When more of these blunders make the mainstream media they might begin to care.

Regardless of which airline I am flying, the pressure will only increase.....

I owe it to my members and to my friends who are still employees of US.
