I saw that article this morning and had to wonder how many of us are brawling with each other? It's not something I've seen at any of our van pickups. Working in CLT and with so many Piedmont people gives you a true fear of mergers. There are sure to be bumps in the road, but all in all it hasn't been too bad. (So far)

Actually, I got a lot from the article. Most of which I already knew. Just glad to see AWA admitting they needed this too. As far as being lied too, welcome to the world of corporate greed. Its only just the beginning.

You are right as to what you said about lies. We at US East are NOT your enemy and many of us stand behind the f/a's (since I am one) to get a fair contract and for there to be no flushing into the PHX base.

As far as any fighting? I have heard nothing of that but if it does happen, that is the lowest level of utter stupidity. There is no room for such juvenile behavior.

This is too much hype to the media and should be squashed. By the same token, listen Doug!!

I am not looking to get into a battle over this issue. I have read alot of posts on here over the past 6 months on how AWA is the savior, that was never the case. Both airlines needed this merger, although most of the former AWA employees didnt seem to think so. There it is, it is what it is, and we now all have to live with it or move on.

I don't consider US East as my enemies. I am very much for the f/a's to get what they want for their contract.

The fighting is a sad but a very true possibility. When the IBT was first trying to become the representatives of the AWA mechanics there was an incident or two here.

Yes, the media information should be taken with a "grain" of salt, unless you know that the information is true.

Doug Parker lying to the AWA mechanics is true.

Really? How do you get that from the article? The only thing I can find even close to that are these two paragraphs:

McClelland said he hates the idea that employees feel like they've been lied to, but he said the merger was necessary for both sides. The company has gone so far as to say, in a recent employee newsletter, that bankruptcy may have been an option for America West absent the merger.

"The reality is, this merger has been good, it's been good for both companies," McClelland said. "We'd be in a lot different position as America West if this merger hadn't happened, given the environment and given where everything (in the industry) was going." (Emphasis added.)

Seems more like McLelland is merely trying to prepare any skeptical ex-HP-ers to justify the screwing they are about to get.

Sure maybe at some point down the road, HP would have had to do something. (Or maybe not.) But compare that to U's (for whom bankruptcy was not "an option" but was reality -- again) imminent demise within weeks had this not gone through.

One of the big differences is old US had Glass and the gang HP did not. Now the new US has Glass and the gang HP kept them. Noting new their deja vou.I think we are down the road now.
