US Airways’ October Shuttle schedule, which will be loaded into Reservations systems this Saturday, includes changes to both seating configuration and frequency. In the New York markets to and from Boston Logan International and Reagan Washington National airports, the Airbus 319 aircraft currently operating in a 124-seat single-class configuration will be converted to a dual-class configuration with 12 First Class and 108 Coach Class seats. One of the converted dual-class aircraft will be placed in the Oct. 5 schedule, while conversion of the remaining seven aircraft will be completed by Oct. 26. The initial aircraft will be used in the Boston to LaGuardia market.

This new seating arrangement will give Shuttle customers the flexibility to upgrade to First Class on these routes. Between Boston and Washington, dual-class 737-300 aircraft will be used on the 14 weekday roundtrips currently scheduled. A 15th roundtrip, which will begin on Sept. 7 with 737-300 equipment, will change to a two-class Airbus A319 equipment effective Oct. 27. The A319 will depart Washington to Boston at 6:30 a.m., and return from Boston for Washington at 8 p.m.

What's the status of reconfiguring the single class A320s and A319s floating around? It would be nice to have a uniform configuration so the aircraft can be used more flexibly.
