Hello everybody,

I'm sure US Airways can't afford to order new version Boeing 747-8 in the future. Why not to fly new 747-8 nonstop from Phoenix hub to Asia and Australia for longer trip?

Here it is:

Worth about 22.5MB upload with left click mouse on link or download with right click mouse on link "Save Target As" file to your desktop.

Neat stuff. Some ideas may never see the light of day, but still interesting to watch. Enjoy. B)

I hate to say it, but I am betting that this model will only be popular in the one area that the 747 continues to dominate...

Cargo.

When it comes to heavy lift, nothing compares to the 747. If this model has the specs that they are hinting at, it will find itself very popular in that market segment.

Most people do not realize how large the cargo market really is, and how many carriers are making a tidy profit with it (esp the Asian operators). With the exception of NWA, Most US passenger carriers do not have a stand alone cargo operation. Most (including US Airways) will sell excess space on their international runs, but few have specific aircraft out fitted for cargo alone.

The usual way it works, is the carriers with large international cargo operations will buy the 747-800F to replace the 747-400F's that they currently use, and then sell their older 747-400's to the ACMI cargo operators.

If memory serves, the initial orders that Boeing has on the books for the 747-800 are for the Freighter version.
