Hey now... I LIKE that idea!!! Let some of the Vegas casinos sponsor the flights as well, and pick up the tab for the machines, as well as being responsible for the payouts. AA can just sit back and collect a cut.

The only downside is I don't believe you're allowed to gamble using credit cards...and therein lies a big problem, unless you sell prepaid cash cards at the airport, just like the prepaid phone cards.

Overall, it could be a helluva lot of fun!

Here is a great way to pull up airline earnings-lets put those poker machines in each seat back.Whoever hits the Big One can mail their winning ticket in or redeem free airmiles. If it pays like the boats here in MO. airlines will be profitable overnight!

I have to agree with WNP (heart failure!)

Have the flight attendants sell bags of plastic tokens or a phone-type card like they do with headsets or liquor. $10 for a set number of spins, win AAdvantage miles or gift certificates for the inflight catalog. And if you don't want to gamble, you don't have to.

I think this one would be a winner!

Up until the late 1980's, the state of Kansas often had representatives of the state attorney general's office fly on aircraft over Kansas to insure that no liquor was served. I remember flying out of ICT in first class on AA...the FA took our drink orders on the ground, but the drinks were not served until we were airborne about 20 minutes and out of Kansas air space.

I remember being told we were not to even take orders until the Capt. gave the OK as we crossed the border. And I recall reading an article that the state of Kansas actually tried to ban drinking on transcons as they overflew the state.
