With all the US/HP talk and rumors floating around, there's plenty to talk about besides "black gold", but just in case anyone is interested here it is.....

From the EIA's weekly report for the week ended 5/13/05:

U.S. crude oil refinery inputs averaged over 15.5 million barrels per day during the week ending May 13, up 158,000 barrels per day from the previous week's average.

Refineries operated at 94.0 percent of their operable capacity last week.

Gasoline production increased last week, averaging nearly 9.0 million barrels per day. (Hopefully good news coming to the gas pump soon - BB)

U.S. crude oil imports averaged nearly 10.9 million barrels per day last week, up 867,000 barrels per day from the previous week, and the fourth highest weekly average ever.

U.S. commercial crude oil inventories (excluding those in the SPR) rose by 4.3 million barrels from the previous week.

At 334.0 million barrels, U.S. crude oil inventories are well above the upper end of the average range for this time of year, and the highest since May 1999 when
compared to monthly data.

Total product supplied over the last four-week period has averaged nearly 20.4
million barrels per day, or 0.8 percent more than averaged over the same period
last year.

Kerosene-type jet fuel demand is up 1.7 percent over the last four weeks compared to the same four-week period last year.

Breakdown of crude oil supply:
Domestic Production 5,467,000 bbls per day, down 2.1% YOY
Imports 10,479,000 bbls per day, up 3.4% YOY

1,601,000 bbls per day of kerosene-type jet fuel were supplied, up 1.7% YOY

Kerosene-type jet fuel stocks were 40.2 million bbls, up 11% YOY

Jet fuel spot prices on 5/13/05 (5/6/05) ((1st qtr avg)) - per gallon:

NY Harbor $1.4490 ($1.5113) (($1.4183))
Gulf Coast $1.4340 ($1.5038) (($1.3798))
Los Angeles $1.5050 ($1.6400) (($1.3991))

As usual, crude spot prices on 5/13/05 (5/6/05) - per bbl:

WTI - Cushing $48.65 ($51.30)
Brent $46.85 ($49.70)

Current Bloomberg crude prices (1845 EDT) - per bbl:

NYMEX $47.10
WTI Cushing $47.25
Dated Brent $46.69

The good news - crude (and jet fuel) prices are coming down. After crude prices drifted lower for several days starting last week, there was a significant drop today which will presumably translate to lower jet fuel spot prices in next weeks report.

The bad news - midway through the 2nd quarter, jet fuel spot prices are still above the average of the 1st quarter.
