ST. GEORGE, November 7, 2007 – SkyWest Airlines pilots voted Tuesday to maintain the airline’s open-door culture – a cornerstone of the Company’s 35-year success. In a vote conducted by the National Mediation Board in Washington, D.C., more than 65 percent of SkyWest Airlines’ pilots voted to remain union free, rejecting the Air Line Pilots Association’s efforts to become their bargaining representative.

“We are pleased with our pilots’ decision to reject third-party representation and to maintain our current relationship,†said Chip Childs, SkyWest Airlines president and chief operating officer. “SkyWest’s future is certainly positive, and we are pleased our pilots recognize that we can accomplish great things together as we work toward continued opportunity for our airline and our employees.â€

“We appreciate our pilots’ decision to remain union free, and the professionalism they displayed during this campaign,†continued Brad Holt, SkyWest’s vice president – flight operations. “This vote is an endorsement of the relationship that has worked so well throughout our history.â€

SkyWest has been union free for more than 35 years, and the airline is dedicated to working with all employee groups to establish an environment of competitive wages, good working conditions and opportunity for personal and professional growth.

Same thing as Colgan...SkyWest Management is IN TOUCH w/ the Pilots...why can't US Airways get it?...They can do great things w/ the airline behind them if they were on the same plane of existence as us.

Echo... echo... echo... Pinch hitting for Pedro Borbon... Manny Mota... Mota... Mota...

At the risk of sounding like 700UW, Pedro Borbon and Manny Mota never played on the same team.

(You would have thought that the writers of that movie, based in Hollywood, home of the Dodgers, would have known that.)

With the exception of pilots, IIRC all the DL labor is non-unionized too. Even when they were growing contentious with management during the trouble years. Go figure. I guess that 3% whacking off the paycheck is worth it to some.
