How sad it is to see CAK go from the largest carrier at CAK to the possibility of not serving the airport at all! Will the one daily CLT flight finally be added to? Will US beat FL to the punch and add CAK-PHL service. How does PSA justify the CAK crew base with only one daily flight?

US Airways will still serve CAK with a daily PSA CRJ from Charlotte.

Chill Buddy. CAK is not going anywhere. PSA is going to have 5 flights a day to CLT and 2 a day to PHL starting in November. PSA leases the CAK hanger for an unbelievably low price (I Heard $70,000/year). Also, there is $250,000 worth of funds set aside by the city of Canton to pay for marketing US Airways. It pays to do business in the rust belt. The city will do anything to create jobs.

Airtran might look like they are dominating CAK for the moment, but once PSA gets its 70 seat RJs online AirTran won't be able to compete as well. PSA will have a CASM as low as AirTran, and by linking to US Airways we will offer a much broader network for pax to connect to. Let AirTran fly all the North East Ohio HillJacks to Orlando for their once a year cheeseball theme park vacation. PSA will be taking the rich folks to CLT where they can connect to US Airway's Caribean and Central American network. We'll also be taking folks to PHL where they connect on the Star Aliance to pretty much anywhere in Europe. If U survives another year we'll make AirTran look like the ghetto operator they truely are.

I think you are undersestimating what AirTran is doing in CAK. Yeah, they are building a franchise in some low-yield Florida markets...but they are also going nonstop to major business markets like LGA and BOS. I suspect that transcon nonstop service will be following shortly.

BTW, there's nothing "ghetto" about a new 717 or 737 with a business class cabin. AirTran has a very good product.

You're right about all the international cnx US offers that FL doesn't. Just don't get too cocky about it. There is a lot more domestic traffic than intl.
