Will Delta look into SLC-STL?

If I remember correctly DL operated this route for awhile with 727''s and then stopped a couple of years back due to competition with Southwest and TWA. I was wondering if you all think that Delta will start up this route again with say, 738''s or MD-88''s or possibly upgrade ATL-STL? It''s hard to imagine Delta would let an underserved market exist when they have such a stranglehold on the airport at one end.

If they did, they would be competing head to head with Southwest, who already operates two daily nonstops on the route. And we all know that Delta does NOT like to go head to head with Southwest.

I wouldn't look for Delta mainline to try this route again. If anything at all, they might put a couple of RJ's on it, but I would not hold my breath. After all, their strategy in SLC is to downsize (ala DFW) not to increase flights.
