While the "Will work for food" is usually reserved for the homeless, the less demanding, "Will work for Free" phrase is exclusive to non-profit charitable organizations. Associating that phrase with an airline is twisted and profane.

At any rate, many US AIRWAYS employees who have retired or will soon retire, may have a valuable public asssitance benefit if the PBGC takes over your pensions. This assumes that your pensions will be taken over by the PBGC.
You have to be at least 55 and have a pension under the PBGC control.

The Health Care Tax Act was designed to help assist workers who have had their Pensions taken over by the PBGC. You choose a qualifying health plan and the government [state/federal coordinated I believe] pays basically 65% of the health care premiums.

I hope someone finds this information useful.

Yes, HCTC has been a Godsend helping with the high cost of COBRA, but with the last of the furloughed former TWA flight attendants COBRA expiring Jan 1, 2005, we have found that "a qualifying health plan" is NOT available in all states, leaving many with NO health insurance. Good luck to everyone finding affordable health care coverage.
