On Tuesday, it was announced that Republic Airlines (yes, in the regional industry we recycle names, just ask Piedmont, Allegheny or PSA), the nation''s newest regional airline will establish its corporate and maintenance headquarters in Louisville, KY. Republic will fly RJs for US Airways Express - see story in Louisville Courier-Journal:

Republic is seeking a Director of Maintenance, Director of Operations, Chief Pilot and Crew Scheduler at present. If you know anyone interested in these positions, please ask them to send resumes to resumes@republicairlines.com .[/blockqoute]
There is a pattern:
Allegheny, once a proud “Mainline,â€￾ now US Airways Express
Piedmont, once a proud “Mainline,â€￾ now US Airways Express
PSA, once a proud “Mainline,â€￾ now US Airways Express
Republic, once a proud “Mainlineâ€￾ now US Airways Express
Is it an omen(ous) trend?
It seems Mr. Wolf has a bit of a Midas touch.

Actually this Republic is the holding company owned by Wexford Holdings. It is the parent company of Chautauqua Airlines and was formed for the IPO offering.

Brian Bedford, CEO of Chuatauqua Airlines Inc., retained the Republic name from his days at Mesaba Holdings and their relationship with Northwest.

Actually maybe your title should be "Brian Bedford gets last laugh" since the new Republic is a direct result of the Chautauqua pilots vote against Jets-4-Jobs. The Teamsters/Chautauqua pilots have challenged its existence and is scheduled to be decided by a federal mediator next month.

Actually Republic predates Brian Bedford. Many people have forgotten that Wolf sold Republic to Northwest back in the 80’s.

The irony is that Piedmont, Allegheny, PSA, and Republic were all once “proud namesâ€￾ of Major airlines in their day, but are now recycled names relegated to sweatshops called express carriers and will soon all be flying for US Airways, which itself is being transformed into a sweatshop.

Wolf didn’t forget everything he learned from Lorenzo during his days at Continental. He improved on it.

Yeah, I heard that Western Airlines(Delta), operated by Mesa's Air Midwest, is providing A319's to the group in August. That is after the S checks are completed by the contracted MX...
