I've noticed that it seems almost all DL trips to Europe, with the exception of a few 777's, are now being serviced with the 762. Has this always been the case? I thought that DL used the -300 and -400ERs on these routes... and also thought that DL was retiring most/all of it's 762's. What's going on?

There are no 762's in our fleet anymore. The ones we had were used for domestic only. Almost all of Intl is served with the 763, with the 777 sprinkled in.

I was going to say... Every time I or someone I know goes on Delta for an international flight, usually we get a 767-400 or 767-300.

That's interesting, because the Delta website is showing 762's on almost every single route to Europe. Take for example flight 85 from today (4/20/06):
=========
Flight 85
Flight Information
Departing City (Airport) Milan (Malpensa)
Departure Gate Information Not Available
Carrier Delta
Equipment Type Boeing 767-200
Arriving City (Airport) New York (Kennedy Intl)
Arriving Gate 12 (JFK)
Flight Distance (miles) 3982
==========

All Europe flights are listed 762 on the current Delta timetable as well.... check it out. I can't imagine this is a mistake???

It could be the system misreading the code for 767-300ER. I think it merely a matter of nomenclature.

IIRC DL has two or more types of 767-300. The -200's have almost certainly been retired at this point.

I think that it must be a mistake. We have some 767-400's starting to trickle over to international. However, the 767 that we typically use is the 767-332ER.

None of Delta's 762s are ETOPS IIRC. Unless something has changed it's a big goof in the schedule system.

In fact, if you try to book that flight (not today but another day like tomorrow) the equipment is a 767-300. Someone entered the wrong equipment type in the schedules system.

Delta flight 85 today is a 767-300ER, not a 762. The website and schedule are incorrect.
