"Delta Air Lines is eyeing Boston and Logan Airport for future growth.

"The carrier is bringing over 500 marketing and sales people from around the world to Boston this week to discuss both immediate and long-range growth. It is the largest sales meeting of an airline ever held in the city.

"The three-day event will be held at The Westin Waterfront Hotel. The last two annual international meetings have been held in Seattle and Los Angeles, both target markets for Deltas international and domestic flight growth.

"The airline has also recently announced that it is assigning a full-time corporate sales representative for the New England market.

"As it turns out, Delta will not be the only U.S. carrier having a major marketing event in Boston this week.

"American Airlines, which is merging with U.S. Airways, is holding a town hall meeting with regional corporate travel managers Wednesday evening.

"It would appear that American and Delta are going to mount serious challenges against JetBlue Airways, currently the number one carrier in passenger traffic at Logan Airport."

BOS is the last coastal market where none of the 3 legacies has a dominant position and where there has been no clear attempts to grow, unlike LAX or NYC.

Well all things considered WT,  ' THIS " (combined venture) is one time that we  (AA + DL ) could work together to hand out a ' Biatch-Slap' to B6 !

AA and DL aren't cooperating or in any combined venture.

It is simply a function of AA and DL both recognizing the value of the BOS market and going back in with energy after leaving B6 to it.

Since AA and DL both reasons to grow and/or defend their own presence from Latin America to Florida, B6 could be the highlight of AA and DL's attention in BOS AND Florida.

Like so many of the LCCs, B6 grew because the legacy carriers neglected or walked away from markets. B6' ability to grow is absolutely tied to how badly the legacy carriers want to regain what they gave up in many key markets.
