AA mainline pilot and flight attendant, so ignorant that they don't know the difference between a cello and a string bass, kick a cellist and his instrument off his DCA-ORD 737:

Kaboff, a Vienna, Virginia resident, says the crew showed him a hand held computer saying a bass fiddle is not allowed on their aircraft, a 737 jet.

He says he tried to explain the instrument was a cello, but says the pilot told him he had 'made his decision.'

The musician says he has flown with his cello on AA about 40 times in the past three years and has had only one other issue over the past 25 years. AA has already admitted that the crew was wrong and that he should not have been kicked off the flight.

At least this time it wasn't a vet and their service dog . . . Or a blind woman and her dog . . .

Imbeciles.

Why wasn't someone smarter and more qualified in these situations brought in on the decision? CCRO/LCRO.

CCRO/LCRO may have been involved (at DCA I can't imagine they weren't), but since the PIC "had made his decision" that must have ended the discussion. This will be all over the news for the next few days. Won't Mother be proud!
