AMR Corp.'s air carrier American Airlines said Friday it filed a request with the U.S. Department of Transportation to add five round-trip flights a week between New York and Buenos Aires.

American currently flies one daily round trip between the two cities. The proposed new service will add five additional weekly round trips starting on or before Dec. 18, for a total of 12 trips per week.

Good move by AA.

Don't want DL getting ...."delusional".....thinking that they're a ...player..in JFK to(of ALL places) South America !

AA might also be adding a daylight MIA-EZE service, but it hasn't been decided. Today AA confirmed to the Miami Herald they will be increasing capacity at MIA this winter, despite system cutbacks.

"Another good move by AA........MAH4546 !

Like Crandall always said, ..."when it comes to the point of having to chase Nickles and Dimes,....I'm out of there.
Play to your strengths(International/Hub point to point/Transcons...especially JFK/LAX-SFO,...and give the rest to Eagle)"

(Maybe not those exact words,...but the meaning is what "uncle Bobby meant"

The fact AA is trying to negotiate up to "86" seats for Eagle, with APA, ...is a HUGE/Critical step, and if successful will pay off in Spades.
(Another Reason AA will Never sell AE.....IMHO)

E70/E90 jets would be perfect for O'Hare, Dallas, and Miami. They can open up new routes from Miami not currently feasible with ERJs or 738s for various reasons, open up more West Coast flying from ORD, and allow certain MD80/ERJ markets currently from ORD/DFW to be "right-sized." Many routes need more than an ERJ/less than an S80.
