Another Lcc Turns Up The Heat

They are adding 46% more seats.
Guess they are trying to get some of the money back from USAirways that they pay for Fleet Service Handling.

FlyI has their own Customer Service and Fleet Service in CLT.

I find this to be a very interesting move... Obviously designed to turn of the heat on US Airways...

But if FlyI was acting in its own best interests, I would have thought IAD-BOS or IAD-ORD or IAD-ATL would have been better choices for this aircraft...

To this amateur observer, if this is the highest and best use that FLYi can find for a Dulles-based A318 or two, then they are in deep trouble.

Equally, the reaction so far on this board shows just how shaky things are at U -- this ain't WN or B6 we're talking about.

If U can't run FLYi out of town on a route between U's biggest hub and one of their strongest focus cities at a preferred airport (DCA), then things are looking even bleaker than they were before for U.

Does anyone know what the load factor has been for Independence Air out of CLT? It's has to be pretty strong if they will be bringing in A319's. Does anyone think this news is more a reaction directed towards Air Tran starting service from CLT to BWI in May and US happens to be stuck in the middle of it?
