hello,

i live in the Irish republic and i have a JAA PPL plus a class 1 medical and have about 140 hrs total.

i would like to be able to fly a N-Reg here in Ireland and possibly IFR as well.

so i want to get an FAA PPL based on my JAA PPL. i've been told all i need to do is fill in a form and with a copy of my licence and medical post it to the U.S. then after 90 days go over to the U.S. to collect it.

is their a fee for doing this ?

would i need an FAA medical or would my IAA (JAA) medical do ?

if i wanted to do a IFR Rating in the U.S. is this the best way to get an FAA PPL or would i need to do a conversion course to get the FAA PPL ?

i've read on some U.S. flight training websites about conversion courses but none say what is involved, how many hours, exams ,flight test.

can anyone help me , whats the right way to get a FAA PPL based on my JAA PPL.
