Is Gonzales waiting until Congressional Recess to resign?

Now that Gonzales has been a large part of numerous controversies (i.e. U.S. Attorney firings, Habeas Corpus denials, Warantless eavesdropping on Americans, Possible perjury), his future resignation almost seems undeniable.

If he is, in fact, on the verge of resigning, will he wait until the congressional recess in order to provide Bush Jr. the backdoor recess appointment?

Perhaps Bush would appoint Spencer Abraham (the Arab on the Repubs "short-list" for potential Supreme Court Justice).

Caught a few minutes on C-SPAN of Gonzo, being questioned by (but not answering) Sens. Leahy and Specter. You couldn't make this stuff up!

Unless something else comes out, Il don't think Gonzales is going to quit; W doesn't want confirmation hearing for the replacement.

That is half the point of a recess appointment... no confirmation necessary!

The appointment would continue until the end of the next session, which is essentially when Bush Jr. would leave office anyways (that is unless he refuses to leave office because of a mandate from God).
