90th Infantry Division - The "Tough Ombres".
This was my Uncle's Unit. Some of the 90th landed 70 years ago today and my Uncle was part of those who did so. The rest of the boys came ashore over the next 2 days. Originally the T & O Division was the Texas-Oklahoma Regiment dating back to WWI. It was changed to "Tough Ombre" when most men in the Division weren't from Texas or Oklahoma. For 308 days the 90th fought its way across Europe facing action daily. Later after D-Day they were also known as "Patton's Pawns". RIP Uncle Ken, we didn't forget you, not now not ever. Your service and the millions like you is much appreciated.
